59th Albert C. Donofrio “Week 1” Recap by: Chick Gillespie

The 59th annual Albert C. Donofrio Classic kicked off on Monday 3/25/19 at the Fellowship House Community Center (Conshohocken, PA). The Donofrio is one of the best post season high school basketball tournaments in the tri-state (PA, NJ, DE). Over the years, the tournament has showcased tons of high school stars such as Kobe Bryant, Rasheed Wallace, Kyrie Erving, and thousands more. Below is a recap of week 1 of 2019 Donofrio Classic courtesy of Chick Gillespie.

Monday 3/25/19 GAME 1- COMPETITIVE EDGE vs. HUNTING PARK MARCUS: Competitive Edge took down Hunting Park Marcus 70-61 behind Mike Perretta (Bonner-Prendie) with 19pts, 5 treys, 3asts, and Erik Timko (Methacton) with 11pts, 3 treys, 5asts, 3stls in the win. Also for the Edge big man Jeff Woodward (Methacton) had 10pts, 6reb, 5blks, Andrew Carr (WC East) had 9pts, 7reb, Dave Duda (Methacton) had 9pts, 3 treys and Brett Eberly (Methacton) added 8pts, 8asts in the victory. For HP Marcus 6’8″ Jr Elijah Taylor (Imhotep) led with 19pts, 16reb, 3blks. 6’1″ Sr Jaymes Savage (Sankofa Freedom) had 15pts, 2 treys, 8reb. Quinton Stewart (Wm. Allen) had 10pts, 2 treys, 7reb, and 5’8″ Sr Fatayn Wesley (Imhotep) added 8pts, 7reb, 3asts, 2 treys in the loss. GAME 2- L &L RUNNING REBELS vs TEAM HARDNETT: L & L Running Rebels came back from a double digit 2nd half deficit to knock off Team Hardnett 94-90 behind Tyler Henry (Putnam Science, CT) with 21pts, 7reb, 3stls and Kyle Young (Bethlehem Catholic/Siena) with 20pts, 16reb, 5blks in the winning effort. Also for L & L Justin Rodriguez (Putnam Science) had 13pts, 9asts, 9reb, Matt Marchetti (MMI Prep) had 10pts, 2blks, Stephon Sheard (Nazareth HS) had 9pts, 9reb and Greg Vlassopoulos (Garnet Valley) added 8pts, 8reb in the win. For Team Hardnett Michael Smith (Chester) had 25pts, 6reb, 3asts 3stls. Rahmaad DeJarnette (Chester) had 21pts, 13reb. Jr TeSean Pressley (Haddon Heights) had 20pts, 11reb, 3stls & Marvin Freeman (Sun Valley) added 10pts, 10reb in the loss.

Tuesday 3/26/19 GAME 1- COOL HOOPS vs KEYSTONE BLAZERS PYO: Cool Hoops over Keystone Blazers-PYO 85-65 behind Lucas Monroe (Abington/Penn) with 15pts, 6reb, 5stls and Jr AJ Hoggard (Huntington, WV Prep) with 12pts, 2 treys, 8asts, 4stls in the win. Also for Cool Hoops Brandon Stone (Rock Top Academy/LaSalle) had 10pts, 11reb, Gary Francis (Pennsbury) had 10pts, 3stls, 2 treys and Allen Powell (LaSalle College HS/Rider) added 10pts, 2 treys in the victory. For the KB/PYO squad 7 foot plus Naheem McLeod (PW/Florida St.) led with 16pts, 10reb, Soph Tymir Farlar (Palumbo) had 10pts, 2 treys, Isaiah Anderson had 8pts, 5reb, 2blks & Chaz Owens added 7pts, 9reb in the loss. GAME 2- PHILLY PRIDE vs KEYSTONE BLAZERS DE: In game 2 Philly Pride sprinted past Keystone Blazers-DE 101-75 as Soph Jordan Longino (Germantown Academy) had 25pts, 3 treys, 5reb and James Jones (Roxborough) had 14pts, 9reb, 2blks in the triumph. Also for Philly Pride Jaelen McGlone (Cheltenham) had 13pts, 4asts, Hunter Healy (Lansdale Catholic) had 10pts, 8reb, 4blks and Jordan Hall (Neumann-Goretti) added 9pts, 3asts to the cause. For KB-DE Nichus Jackson (Olympus Prep) led with 25pts 5 treys 7reb, Gerrad Wall (Olympus Prep) had 9pts 7reb 4asts, Colin Hockenbrock (Red Lion Christian) had 9pts 6reb and James Steinberger (Sanford School) added 9pts 5reb in the loss.

Wednesday 3/27/19 GAME 1 DEL VAL VC vs K-LOW ELITE: Game 1 stats: For K-Low Elite Dahmir Bishop (Imhotep/Xavier) had 24pts, 4asts, 3stls, Chris Ings (N-G/Rider) had 17pts, 4asts, 5reb, 3stls, Jr Derrius Ward (Sankofa Freedom) had 15pts, 7reb and Keeshawn Kellman(Perkiomen School/Princeton) added 11pts, 9reb, 4blks in the win. Also for K-Low Champ Hammonds (Constitution) had 9pts, 3 treys, 5reb, 3asts, Seth Pinkney (Montverde CBD/Quinnipiac) had 9pts, 7blks, 5reb, and Khalil Turner (Sankofa Freedom/Rider) added 8pts, 9reb, 3asts, 3stls in the victory. For Del Val VC Muneer Newton (Archbishop Wood) led with 14pts, Jameel Brown (Haverford School) had 9pts, 3stls, Rahsool Diggins (Archbishop Wood) had 9pts, 3asts, 3stls, & Daeshon Shepherd (Arch. Wood) added 7pts, 6reb in the loss. GAME 2- JUST CLEAN IT vs DEL VAL TOROS: In Game 2 for Just Clean It: Justin Anderson (Phelps School) had 13pts 5reb 3asts, Malik Slay (Phelps School/West Chester) had 13pts 5asts 5reb 3stls, Gabe Perez (Roman) had 11pts 3stls and Jack Brown (Salesianum School) added 10pts 2 treys in the win. Also for JCI Tyshon Judge (Paul VI, NJ) had 9pts, 3asts, Andrew Delaney (St. Augustine/Adelphi) had 8pts, 17reb, Khai Champion (Shipley) & Louie Wild (Roman) each had 7pts and Arda Akalin (Phelps School) contributed 8reb in the win. For the Del Val Toros: Derrell Jones (Phelps) had 16pts 7reb, Glenn Sabb (ANC) had 14pts 8reb 3asts and Mikeel Allen (Norristown) added 10pts 11reb 4asts in the triumph. Thursday 3/28/19 GAME 1- COACHING VICTORY vs PIZZA TIME: For Coaching Victory Deuce Turner (Malvern Prep) led with 19pts, 13reb, 3 treys, Eli Washington (Hempfield) had 18pts, 2 treys, Rahdir Hicks (Malvern Prep) had 17pts, 7reb, Tyler Crespo (Manheim Twp.) had 16pts, 3 treys in the win. Also for Coaching Victory Neal Beniwal (Garnet Valley) had 13pts, 3 treys, and Andrew King (Downingtown East) added 12pts, 7reb in their triumph. For Pizza Time Dylan Rowe (Downingtown East) had 24pts, 15reb, Ryan Moffatt Hill School/Colgate) had 21pts, 11reb, 7asts, Gabe Dorsey (Hill School) had 17pts, 11reb, 4 treys in the loss.
