LONNIE WALKER IV is a 2017 McDonalds All American
- Updated: January 24, 2017
Well, if you would have asked me last year….”Do I think Lonnie Walker is going to be a McDonalds All American his senior year?”, I would have told you…. “Yup”! One, because I have faith in God, and i’ve been praying for his success. Two, because in my mind it was simple math. Last year, he was nationally ranked about 19th on the ESPN Top 60, then he possibly moved to 14th. Rather 19th, or 14th it’s still amazing (when you consider the millions of high school basketball players in the world). In addition, the McDonalds All American selects the top 24 players to participate in the game, so in my mind I was thinking… “As long as LW4 can stay within the top 24 ranking, he’ll be ok”. He was able to do just that, and i’m sure it helped that he had a crazy Summer AAU season with Team Final, was amongst some of the best players in the country selected to participate in the USA 18U National Team tryouts, and several more accomplishments from then till now. So, on the night of January 15, 2018, ESPNU hosted the 2017 McDonalds All American Selection show and Nephew Lonnie Walker IV’s name was called, along with another PENNSYLVANIA Future Hoop Legend QUADE GREEN, MOHAMED BAMBA who plays in PA at The Westtown School, but is from Harlem, NY, also PA neighbor TREVON DUVAL who is from Wilmington, DE. Who would have thought that a kid from Reading, PA would be a McDonalds All American in 2017? I’ll tell you who, the entire City of Reading. So, this is just one more thing checked off Lonnie Walker’s “To Do List”, and i’m anxiously waiting to see the next milestone he accomplishes. Stay Tuned! (Note: FULL LONNIE WALKER McDonalds ALL AMERICAN PRESENTATION CEREMONY WILL BE UPLOADED TO THE WEBSITE SOON). Below is the full EAST/WEST McDonalds All American 2017 Roster.
