Jalen Green leads Prolific Prep to a big win over La Lumiere at the Hoophall Classic By: Tyler Harden
- Updated: January 22, 2020
SPRINGFIELD— The matchup between Prolific Prep out of Napa Valley, California and La Lumiere out of La Porte, Indiana was one of the premier games for Sunday’s slate for the 2020 Spalding Hoophall Classic in Springfield, Massachusetts. Prolific Prep was bringing one of the best players to come through the program in Jalen Green. With the powerhouse program in La Lumiere that Green and Prolific Prep were set to face, everyone in the arena knew this game would be good.
Both teams executed well from the start, as the first quarter was mainly Prolific Prep, but the second quarter La Lumiere had more of a rhythm going.
The second half was back and forth. Jalen Green had 17 of his 26 points in the second half. Nimari Burnett, who is committed to Texas Tech, added 16 points in the win. Jaden Ivey, who is headed to Purdue, kept La Lumiere in the game with his elite scoring ability. Overall, both teams proved that they can play at an all around high level. But, Prolific Prep came out on top with a score of 69-62.
Jalen Green is one of the few uncommitted recruits left in the 2020 Class. His main choices include Memphis, Oregon, USC, Auburn, and Fresno State, in which Memphis and Oregon appear to be the leaders. There have also been recent rumors that Green may play professional early, but he denied those rumors.
Green was named Most Valuable Player for the game, as he scored 26 points with 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Don’t be surprised if both teams are in the Top 10 National Rankings by the end of the season.
