St. Vincent St. Mary featured one of the best players in high school and NBA history “LEBRON “THE KING” JAMES”. Strawberry Mansion featured on the the best players in Philadelphia Public League history MAUREECE RICE. This classic took place on DECEMBER 22nd, 2002 and was part of the Scholastic Play-by-Play Classic (One of the best high school showcases in the country). It was only right that such a legendary game take place in a legendary arena,”THE PALESTRA” (University of Penn). One of the main attractions of this game is the legendary 4th quarter 1-on-1 “playground style” showdown between LEBRON JAMES and MAURICE RICE. This match up will go down in history and will be talked about forever. The crowd was the craziest i’ve ever seen, people would go nuts every time Maurice or Lebron would slowly walk the ball down court, knowing that it was about to go down! Myth has it that Maurice Rice crossed Lebron over and made him fall. Well the myth is no more, wait till you see the madness that takes place at the start of the 4th quarter and you’ll watch it over, and over, and over, and over!!
