This is the story of the legendary Pioneers football team who won 10 straight championships between 1961-70. In 1971 John Harris High School would be merged with William Penn to form what is now known as Harrisburg High School. Before the merger between 1961-70, John Harris would produce some of the best talent that Pennsylvania and the country has ever seen. Talent such as “Jimmy Jones” who was the first black quarterback at USC, played in the Canadian league (winning 2 Canadian Super Bowls), also starred in HBO’s documentary Breaking The Huddle. “Jan White” who played for Ohio State and the Buffalo Bills. “Dennis Green” coached at the Minnesota Vikings. The Elby Brothers “Dan & Mike” (ARC, dedicated their lives to helping youth), “Jesse Rawls Sr.” PA State wrestling legend & champion, “Stan Washington” who played for the Kansas Jay Hawks, “Ed Beverly” who played for Arizona State and the San Francisco 49ers, tons of Big 33 alumni, and much much more.
